Long tailed keyword marketing is the art of crafting these keywords and implementing them throughout your site.

The big advantages to using long tailed keywords are:

• They are plentiful and everywhere
• They are easy to rank for (low competition)
• They deliver better page result for the user

Collectively these low demand keywords can actually bring you more traffic than the more popular keywords. With enough of them inside your content, your traffic can eventually skyrocket.

It is a good idea to change this before you start building content. Its a very easy to do as well. After logging into Wordpress as the administrator look under Setting and click on Permalinks. Choose Custom Structure and enter the following code: /%postname%.htm.

Now when you create a new entry and save a draft of it. You will now see the permalink listing directly under the page title. Choose Edit and change the url if needed.

Finally use keywords like my-keyword.htm to reinforce what the page is about.

The new caffeinated search engine promises to update their index with real time data refreshes. Other changes include improved more blended results, with news, images, etc. mixed into the regular results.

We’ll have to hang tight until the launch although it is said that Google Caffeine will continue to tweak its algorithm to reduce unwanted results.

Here is my top 10 list of things to do in order to improve your rankings in Google or any other search engine.

1: Create and manage content easily

If you are starting from scratch install a CMS like Wordpress. Did you know you can even create an entire site in Wordpress that looks nothing like a blog?

2: Start or revisit keyword stategy

Find related keywords based on your topic or theme. Use a great alternative to Keyword Discovery or Wordtracker I recently found.

3: Create even more web content

Write content using a Wordpress as a CMS. Create at least 10-15 pages to start.

4: Analise Titles and Descriptions

Optimize pages with unique titles and descriptions for every page. Consider SEO plugins to make this easier.

5: Explore long tailed keywords

For starters Focus on long tailed keywords in your content. For better search engine ranking try to link to you related pages using keywords as well. Download my free internal linking tool to check your optimized meta tags and anchor links.

6: Use simple static URLs

Make sure pages end with simple static URLs. If your using Wordpress create a document ending in htm or html. More to come about this….

7: Setup Webmaster Tools

Signup for Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics. They are both free to use. Use plug-ins to speed up this process.

8: Create a site map

Create a XML site map that tells people where everything is on your site. Wordpress has a great plugins to make this easier. More to come on how to set this up!

9: Create web relationships

Find related websites and get them to link to you. External links boost your rankings and create a website presence which will guarantee to improve search engine rankings over time.

10: Get back to creating content!

Create new content that is rich with information about your topic. You want to create a page a day if you want to rank for competitive keywords. Providing good “how to” information is a great way to get links naturally.

Provide keypoints with keywords!

Most of your visitors really don’t have time to read though all your content. Whenever possible provide highlights using related keywords about your page topic. Use keywords that make sense to your page optimization goals as well.

Design for the visitor and optimize for the search engines

When your visitors get stuck so will the search engines… they need to get to more content quickly. So when creating content for your website – focus on both web design and optimization pages at the same time.

Optimized, related, internal links

Provide optimized, related, internal links that lead to more info. Not only is this good for the search engines – but they provide a path for your customer to find more about your products and services.

Optimize the page structure

Make sure your pages are as clear as possible and well structured with optimized headings. Again, develop your web pages for both the search engines and your visitors.

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify

Simplicity is the key… remember not to overdo your page content. Keep things short and to the point. If you topic is too complicated, provide more subpages, tags and internal links to them in order to break it down further.

Simply add your top favorite sites to the plugin and Fastdial will visually bookmark them when you open your browser.
